“Meet the Beetle” is so cute, it's my favorite film at this year's Wild & Scenic Film Festival. Face it. Raising awareness about daunting issues, amongst so many daunting issues, stresses the entertainment zone that nurtures movie goers. Creative documentary techniques have made great inroads, but most of the time, you can massage a substantive documentary only so far. Half grade school musical and half standard report, “Meet the Beetle” fuels a perfect issue delivery engine.
He likes it! I'll be honest - I almost teared up as I was reading it. Read the rest of Chuck's review over at Union.com.
Woo-hoo -- great review!
ReplyDeleteAs an environmental science instructor, I search for fun, educational films that illustrate the complexity of ecological issues we face in our own backyards, yet don't just stop there. I only show films that clearly outline solutions & provide multi-faceted, realistIc solutions. Meet the Beetles does this, plus plus. Kudos to the filmmaker & his team! - Dr. Jeanine Pfeiffer, San Jose State University & Developing Virtues High School, City of Ten Thousand Buddhas
